Strange porcelain Figurines appear next to dried flowers and china dolls. Lillian Thomson’s collection of unusual possessions present an abstraction of our past and future interactions associated with belongings and the unspoken memory they retain. By extracting visual components and colours in these discarded items, Thomson’s paintings reveal a conceptual interference with their previously forgotten beauty. Between the suggestions of light and shadow beams the admission of unique interpretation. As the viewer becomes increasingly drawn into the narrative, hints of landscape emerge creating the peculiar world in which these items exist.
